Suspect busted in Coney Island double murder from August
Police tracked down a man wanted in connection with a Coney Island double murder nearly 200 miles away — in Rhode Island, where he was arrested this week, authorities announced.
Victor Cedres, 34, was busted by Rhode Island State Police just after 3 p.m. Thursday and brought back to Brooklyn, according to police.
Cedres allegedly opened fire on two men on West 19th Street near Neptune Avenue just after 10 p.m. Aug. 20, according to cops.
The first victim, Joseph Rivera, 27, was shot in the stomach, and the second, Leon Ricardo, 34 — who lived nearby — was shot in the head, according to police. The victims were taken to Coney Island Hospital, where they died, police said.
Cedres also lives in the neighborhood where the shooting took place, according to police.
He has six prior arrests, according to police sources.
