A person was shot dead Wednesday night in Westminster, and police say the suspect is barricaded inside a Denver home on Thursday afternoon.

The shooting happened at about 7:25 p.m. in the 7300 block of Orchard Court, according to Westminster police. A suspect was identified, and an arrest warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Thursday afternoon, the suspect was traced to a Denver apartment in the 800 block of Oneida Street.

“The suspect has barricaded inside of the home and has refused to come out,” police said. The Denver Police Department SWAT team and Westminster police are trying to get the suspect to surrender.

The suspect’s name was not released. The identity of the victim will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.
