Student, 18, fears she has become latest nightclub needle attack victim after waking up in club toilet to find huge BITE MARK on her arm

An 18-year-old student fears she has become the latest victim of a nightclub needle spiking attack after she woke up in a toilet with a bite mark on her arm. 

Hattie Brown blacked out on a night out with friends in Fever nightclub near her university in Exeter, Devon, and when she regained consciousness alone in the toilet noticed teeth marks on her right forearm which left nasty bruising.  

The student has no memory of being bitten and fears the blackout could be the result of a spiking.   

Her shocking ordeal comes after a spate of alleged needle attacks on young women that have plagued nightclubs across the country. 

She said today: ‘I can only assume I was spiked as I don’t remember anything. I refuse to be a girl who wears armour into a club because I don’t want to be spiked with a needle or bitten.

‘It’s ridiculous. It’s one of those things that you think is never going to happen to you. I don’t think it’s something I’ll ever understand.

‘If this is going to be a thing that women need to look out for, then it’s terrifying.’

Ms Brown woke up the next dar with a swollen arm covered in bruises and doesn’t believe she was drunk enough to not feel someone biting her.    

She said: ‘I just looked down at my arm and there were just teeth marks on my arm.

‘It wasn’t like I’d banged my arm or something – there were indentations of teeth.

‘Then I started to freak out because I was like ”I have been bitten on the arm by a human”.

‘I think it sobered me up a bit because of the panic and the adrenaline. It’s like something out of a horror movie.’

She decided to leave the club for safety and was picked up by a friend.   

But she didn’t report it to police because she didn’t think they would catch the attacker but went to get medical treatment.

An NHS walk-in centre advised Hattie that as her skin hadn’t been broken, she was unlikely to have caught anything from the bite.

But the religion and theology student has spoken with her family who are helping write an email to the club to let them know what happened.

Women across the UK have boycotted nightclubs in recent weeks for a so-called ‘Girls Night In’ to highlight the issue of spiking.

However, Ms Brown is determined not to let it ruin her university experience, so is keen to introduce measures with her friends – and calls for young women across the UK to do the same.

She warned young girls on nights out to have protocols in place to reunite if one goes missing or needs help.

Spiking is a criminal offence carrying a maximum 10-year prison sentence but most women don’t report it because they don’t think they have enough information. 

Biting is classed as ABH and carries a maximum sentence of five years, or a fine.
