Block.one Launches Blockchain-based Social Media Platform Voice

Block.one, the developer of EOS blockchain protocol, rolled out a blockchain-based social media platform called Voice, to bring transparency to social media. Users can also earn Voice tokens if other users like their post and the post gains visibility, earning more with the popularity of the post.

The tokens generated on the platform can be used by the user to put their opinion on top and ensure their voice is heard. If someone else raises their Voice above the top users, they get their tokens back plus some extra Voice.

Voice expects to cultivate creation, sharing, discovery and promotion of content on social media platforms by real users, not bots and fake accounts. Users will directly benefit from their ideas and engagement on the platform.

Block.one’s Voice platform is built on the EOS Public Blockchain, which runs on the EOS protocol. The user, the contributor and the platform has the same rules, with no hidden algorithms, no invisible agenda’s and content pushing.

Compared to the traditional social media platforms, Voice will use a special authentication system to make sure every user on Voice is an actual person, with no robo-mobs or bot’s, no catfish and no burner accounts.

“I’ve never experienced in my career a tougher time than finding people who want to join the restaurant industry,” Danny Meyer, CEO of Union Square Hospitality Group, told FOX Business’ Maria Bartiromo, adding that “we’re finding them because people want to work but if the line of people used to be 50 people long, now it’s shorter.”

Despite this trend and the emergence of food delivery apps, Meyer said business is doing well and he’s bullish on the U.S. economy.

“We are in an economy right now, and I think we are also in a time in life where people want to buy experiences over things,” he said. “And so restaurants I think are really, really well placed right now.”

Starbucks launches reusable cups trial at UK airport

Starbucks and environmental charity Hubbub are launching a trial program to lend passengers at Britain's Gatwick Airport reusable cups while waiting for their flights in hopes of cutting down on waste.

The one-month pilot program will give passengers at Britain's second-largest airport the option of borrowing the cup — rather than using a paper one — and disposing of it before getting on their flights at "Cup Check-In" points. Cups will then be washed and sterilized and returned to Starbucks for re-circulation.

Organizers hope to put 2,000 reusable Starbucks cups in circulation at the airport's South Terminal.

Hubbub CEO Trewin Restorick says people care about plastic waste but find "it's often hard to 'do the right thing' when travelling."

The trial will show whether consumers will accept such projects.
