Oil Settles Sharply Lower, But Posts Strong Weekly & Monthly Gains
Crude oil futures settled notably lower on Friday, with traders trimming down some positions as they looked ahead to the meeting of the U.S. and Chinese Presidents, and the decision of the OPEC and its allies on production levels.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures for August ended down $0.96, or 1.6%, at $58.47 a barrel.
On Thursday, WTI crude oil futures ended up $0.05, at $59.43 a barrel, after having climbed up 2.7% a session earlier.
WTI oil futures gained 1.8% in the week, and more than 9% in June.
The U.S. President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping are scheduled to meet on the sidelines of the G20 summit on Saturday. There is some optimism that the meeting will help reignite trade talks between the two countries.
It is hoped that Trump and Xi will reach some sort of agreement that would avoid the imposition of additional tariffs on each other’s products.
The recent rally in oil prices was due to a much larger than expected drop in U.S. crude inventories last week and an escalation in geopolitical tensions following the downing of a U.S. drone by Iran’s Islamist Revolutionary Guard Corps and the subsequent tougher sanctions imposed by the U.S. on Tehran.
Inventor creates pills which make your farts smell of roses — or even chocolate – The Sun
AN INVENTOR claims his pills make your farts smell like roses or chocolate.
They also come in ginger, violet, chocolate, and lily of the valley — and can be given to pets.
Christian Poincheval, 69, said he got the idea while “at a table with friends after a copious meal when we nearly asphyxiated ourselves.
“The gas wasn’t great for our table neighbours. Something had to be done about this.
"You can disguise the sound of a fart but not the stench.”
He began selling the pills as dietary supplements to locals before expanding his range to “add a touch of humour for any occasion”.
Christian advises taking them a week before stinky guffs would be unacceptable. A powder version is available for dogs.
The tablets are made from natural ingredients and sold by French company PilulePet for around £20 for a pack of 60.
Its website says: “If you are tired of rolling down the car windows trips then this is for you! Capsules are packaged discreetly to avoid any embarrassment.”
Pet owners can simply sprinkle the powder onto their pets' food rather than having to feed them pills.

‘The View’ Co-Host Meghan McCain On Biden Attacks: “Ageist Crap, I Hate It”
Joe Biden took some flak from California Representative Eric Swalwell in Thursday night’s Democratic presidential debate on his age. That didn’t sit well with The View co-host Meghan McCain.
The 76-year-old Biden, perceived as the Democrat presidential nomination front-runner at this early stage of campaigning, was a target several times during the debates. But Swalwell honed in on one particular issue.
“I was six-years-old when a presidential candidate came to the California Democratic Convention and said it’s time to pass the torch to a new generation of Americans,” Swalwell said. “That candidate was then-Senator Joe Biden. Joe Biden was right when he said it was time to pass the torch to a new generation of Americans 32-years-ago. He’s still right today.”
McCain said on Friday’s The View that Swalwell was using “ageist crap” to attack Biden.
“Did (Biden) have the greatest night he’s ever had debating? No. Did it change my opinion of him? No,” McCain said. “But I will say, Eric Swalwell with this ageist crap, I hate it. I work with women of all ages. I want experience and people who know how Washington works and who have served and have a life and experience they can bring that to the White House. I thought Pete Buttigieg looked real young last night and real green. And Eric Swalwell, take a seat, you’re an asterisk on the end, Ok?”
