Southbound I-25 north of Denver closed due to crash involving up to 25 vehicles

The southbound lanes of Interstate 25 between Johnstown and Colo. 60 north of the metro area have been closed due to an accident involving up to 25 vehicles.

The Colorado Department of Transportation announced the closure shortly after noon Thursday. A CDOT camera near Johnson’s Corner shows a long line of cars and trucks backed up on the highway.

Master Trooper Gary Cutler, with the Colorado State Patrol, said officers were processing the scene but said that up to 25 vehicles were involved in the mass collision. He said two motorists were transported to a medical facility with minor injuries.

No time for a reopening of the highway has been announced.
