A cute dachshund puppy was caught red-handed on camera when he tried to steal his owner's shoes.

Khan, the four-month-old sausage dog, melted viewers' hearts in the viral video, after attracting more than a million views on Twitter.

The clip, initially shared to Instagram by @khantheweenie shows the tiny black and cream-coloured pooch strolling across the room with a big shoe in his mouth.

A in-video inscription read: "Trying to steal dad's shoes."

Khan is seen walk with short steps and swaying left and right while trying to lift up the blue running shoe.

His tiny tail wags up and move as he makes the move.

To his owner's surprise, he goes for a second round and grabs his dad's other shoe.

But when he walks back to take his mum's shoes, he gets caught out and yelled at by the owner.

The clip, taken in the pooch's home in Maryland, US, then shows a visibly upset Khan sulking away.

Viewers burst out in hysterics when they noticed how Khan mastered the stealing skills.

One said: "Those shoes are bigger than you, friend!"

"He didn't just steal the shoes," another wrote. "He stole my heart as well! That's a cute boy."

A third commented: "Seriously this is the cutest thing I've seen today!"

Meanwhile, a golden retriever puppy also brought joyful tears to viewers with his reaction to trying to pick up an ice block from his bowl.

Hudson gnawed on the ice block and picked it up by his mouth but it kept slipping away from him.

The pooch even made a snarl at the cube when he became frustrated.
