Beaches and parks were packed with revellers enjoying the weather.
But the Met Office has warned that temperatures will dip later today, with thunder forecast and gale-force winds in the north.
Meteorologist Emma Smith said: “There will be cooler and fresher conditions, with wind hitting parts of the country.”
“All regions have showers or more prolonged spells of rain”

Its forecast says: “Monday starts with showery rain in the north of the UK. The south is mainly dry.

“This evening a few showers continue in Scotland but elsewhere it becomes dry.
“During the second half of the night cloud and rain push across south-west England and Wales.”
“By Wednesday an area of low pressure will be sitting over the UK.
“It keeps things showery generally and in the north-west more prolonged outbreaks of rain are possible.
“Unsettled and cool conditions continue through the rest of the week. All regions have showers or more prolonged spells of rain.
“It will be cool for the time of year and at times windy. Drier and brighter periods are most likely to be in the south-east.”
