Shocking moment Buddhist monk BATTERS disabled man for ‘playing too rough’ with son

Phra Sathit, 38, was captured on CCTV chasing after the victim, named Nok, 30, in Samut Prakan, Thailand.

Footage shows the orange-robed man grabbing hold of Nok and flinging a punch to his face which sees him crumpling to the ground.

He then receives several kicks to the face as he sits on the floor.

The video ends with Nok stumbling away from the monk.

After seeing the footage from the temple on April 8, the victim’s mum complained and Sathit was dragged in for questioning.

The monk claimed the attack was sparked over his son and told Buddhist officials: “My son will ordain as monk in the summer and he was hurt by the way that he was playing with him.

“I was angry and couldn’t control myself.”

Nok is mentally handicapped and his mum agreed not to pursue the case if he transferred to a different temple away from the area.

Sathit has now moved 50 miles away to a religious building in Chonburi province in eastern Thailand.

Speaking after the attack, abbot Phra Adisak said: “The young novice monk admitted what happened based on what we saw in the CCTV clip.

“He said he had a short temper and apologised.

“He has been a monk for two years now and done a lot of good work constantly renovating the temple.

“But this was unacceptable and he has agreed to leave.”

Police are now investigating the incident after the footage went viral.

A spokesman said: “Officers will assist the abbots and village officials in further consideration of the case under ecclesiastical law.”
