SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: Cartoonist Gerald Scarfe is set to make £8MILLION from selling art from Pink Floyd’s 1982 film The Wall

Celebrated cartoonist Gerald Scarfe recently spoke of his ‘shock’ at having to move out of his beloved Chelsea after 55 years.

But perhaps he will soon be able to buy a bolthole in his old stomping ground, for I hear he’s planning to sell his collection of memorable images from rock band Pink Floyd’s 1982 film The Wall for a colossal £8 million.

Scarfe, whose original The Scream painting for the movie sold in 2017 for a record £1.4 million, is offering a further 3,000-plus items.

He says: ‘It’s a history of the making of Pink Floyd: The Wall — from the album’s beginning, to the tour and the film. I kept everything, from the earliest drawings, to photos, scripts, storyboards and unpublished written notes.

‘They’re mostly in boxes in a unit in London, though there are a few pieces elsewhere. I got curators to go through it all, and they made an initial list detailing the size of everything. I’d forgotten a lot of it. I could sell everything bit by bit and make more money — but I’d like it all to go to one buyer, preferably a museum.’

The trove includes original paintings of The Wife With Flaming Hair (1979), The Teacher Walls Up The Innocent Children (1979), plus images of The Teacher, The Flowers and Prosecuting Attorney.

Scarfe will sell his collection through the San Francisco Art Exchange in the U.S.

He adds: ‘I’ve worked with SFAE for four years, and they estimate it’ll fetch around £8 million.’

Scarfe, 83, moved to Kew, South-West London, with his actress wife, Jane Asher, last year.

‘I lived in Chelsea for 55 years, so it was a bit of a shock,’ he told me.

‘I do miss it. I remember Jimi Hendrix walking down the road and I saw the other day that Bob Marley had a plaque on the next street where we used to live.’

Most fledgling artists could only dream of having afternoon tea with David Hockney. For Tali Lennox, daughter of Eurythmics singer Annie, it’s perfectly ‘normal’.

The 26-year-old artist visited Hockney at his LA studio with her mother where they pored over his work and discussed her career. Tali said: ‘I know I have had a very privileged life, but it is important to me I am not put in a box and am seen as more than the daughter of a famous singer.

‘You hear people questioning why the children of actors and singers don’t just get “normal” jobs. But when you grow up in an artistic environment, this is normal.’

What’s new Pussycat? Nicole shows off beau  

With her predilection for sportsmen, pop singer Nicole Scherzinger was always likely to fall for the former rugby star Thom Evans when he was a contestant on reality show The X Factor: Celebrity, on which she was a judge.

Now, the pair have confirmed they are a couple by attending a party together after the Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles.

Thom, 34, the ex-boyfriend of glamour model and actress Kelly Brook, has his arm around the waist of former Pussycat Dolls star Nicole, 41, whose ex lovers include Formula 1’s Lewis Hamilton and tennis star Grigor Dimitrov.

On The X Factor, when Thom snaked through his moves to R&B number No Diggity, Nicole was seen purring seductively: ‘I’m single and ready to mingle.’

Love springs eternal for romantic Fox 

Unlucky-in-love actress Emilia Fox seems to have finally found contentment, with her talent agent boyfriend Luc Chaudhary.

‘I’m in a very happy place right now,’ says the Silent Witness star, who plays John Profumo’s wife, Valerie Hobson, in the BBC drama The Trial Of Christine Keeler.

‘I’ve had some great years being single and feeling comfortable with that. But it’s fun dating again and finding someone who you really enjoy being with. I love romance. I’m a great believer in second, third — even fourth chances at love.’

Emilia was divorced from Mad Men star Jared Harris in 2010 and has a daughter with actor Jeremy Gilley.

TV adventurer Ben Fogle has the sternest of critics for his children’s book series, Mr Dog — his own offspring. 

Son Ludo, ten, and daughter Iona, eight, are the first to read the books, he tells me. 

‘The age I write for is six to eight years old, so they are my testers when the books are done,’ says Ben, whose Channel 5 series, New Lives In The Wild, starts tonight. 

Surely a walk in the park compared to pleasing your children.

Cold Feet star James Nesbitt admits he still gets nervous about intimate shots, despite his character’s past as a womaniser.

‘Oh, God, I get so shy and think about it leading up to the scene,’ he says about the programme, which began in 1997 and returns to ITV later this month. ‘And I can’t help thinking — am I not too old for all this?’

The 54-year-old adds of his latest on-screen squeeze: ‘It’s been a lot easier for Hermione [Norris] and I because we know each other — we can support each other.’

Best known as the ‘hot priest’ in BBC comedy Fleabag, Andrew Scott is unforgiving of those right-on Lefties who seem to think that being a heterosexual white man is something of which to be ashamed.

The actor, who happens to be gay, opines: ‘I do find it a little bit worrying at the trend among Left-leaning people to say “straight white male” now as if it’s OK to slag off a whole section of the community.’ 

He adds: ‘A lot of straight white males are wonderful people. Most people’s dads are straight white males.’

The What Not To Wear star is launching a podcast called My Wardrobe Malfunction with guests including Liz Hurley and YouTuber Joe Sugg. 

‘My life is peppered by humiliating wardrobe malfunctions,’ Susannah tells me, with the most recent happening at a party. 

‘I was wearing an old Zara dress and feeling quite pleased as it still seemed to fit well. What I hadn’t realised was that the zip had broken, and my entire back was on display.’
