School teacher, 30, sent boy, 14, video ‘purposefully exposing her sex organs’

A school teacher allegedly sent nude photos to her 14-year-old male student over Snapchat.

Katylann Barnes, from Arkansas, was arrested last week, and charged with child sex offences. She worked at Booneville Junior High School at the time of the offences.

The 30-year-old is accused of sending the child X-rated images via the social media app Snapchat. She also encouraged him to send explicit photos to her.

According to court records Barnes sent images and videos “purposefully exposing her sex organs”. According to KATV she also requested images and videos back.

She told the boy, by sending inappropriate content back to 'arouse or gratify her sexual desires’. The messages took place over two nights according to court documents.

The two were at their own homes where the exchange took place. Barnes was then arrested and charged with sexual indecency with a child; producing, directing, or promoting a sexual performance by a child; unlawful use of a communication device; and computer child pornography.

Police confirmed that she has since been let go from her teaching position at the school. She has since been released from Logan County Detention Centre on a $25,000 bond (£20,000).

In a statement, Logan County Sheriff Jason W. Massey said: “We thank the Arkansas State Police, the Booneville Public Schools, and the Prosecuting Attorney's Office for their assistance in this investigation.”
