SABINA Nessa's family today visited the scene where the primary school teacher was murdered to look at hundreds of tributes left in her memory.

It comes as a 36-year-old man was arrested around 3am this morning at a home in East Sussex on suspicion of Sabina's murder.

A woman, understood to be Sabina's sister Jebina, was supported by a family liaison officer as she read some of the cards left to the “brilliant” 28-year-old.

She also collected a white box with a picture of Sabina on it from vigil organiser Annie Gibbs.

It had been used after Friday's memorial to collect notes of condolence written by attendees.

Sabina was killed as she walked through Cator Park in Kidbrooke, South East London, to meet a pal for a first date on September 17.

FAMILY'S GRIEF

Her body was found by a dog walker covered in leaves near the OpenSpace community centre the following day.

She was found just 200 yards from the home she'd lived in since June.

Police say the man's arrest in the early hours of this morning is a "significant development" and have informed Sabina's family.

Ms Gibbs, who shared an emotional embrace with Sabina’s sister, said of Friday’s service: “I think it really honoured Sabina.

We’re going to keep fighting until we find who has done this

"It was very respectful. I believe there was possibly as many as 3,000 people who attended which was incredible.

“Everyone came there with the same heart. They just wanted the family to feel loved and supported and that was achieved.

“We really wanted to make sure we got the message out there that we want justice and this is not something that we expect in our community. But it’s not going to divide us.

“We’re going to keep fighting until we find who has done this. I was really delighted this morning to see an arrest has been made.”

'REMEMBER SABINA'

Ms Gibbs fears some people are forgetting there is agrieving family at the core of a case promoting global discussion about wider issues.

She added: “At the moment, we need to focus on the fact there is a family who has lost someone. Changes will come later.

“All this political stuff and organisations capitalising on it is just really not needed right now and it is wrong at this time. It is too soon. Barely a week has passed.

“This is a time for us to remember Sabina, not blaming or politics. Let’s respect the family. Let’s focus on Sabina and her loved ones.”

This morning, police revealed said the arrest of a 36-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said: “Sabina’s family have been informed of this significant development and they continue to be supported by specialist officers.”

Two other men aged 40 and 38 were previously arrested and released under investigation.

Detectives have been hunting a man who they believe was trying to hide a red item up his sleeve – as it could be the weapon used in the attack.

POLICE PROBE

The Met was desperately searching for the suspect who was caught on CCTV at a nearby apartment block.

He was caught on CCTV pulling a hood over his head after walking by a block of flats in nearby Pegler Square soon after Sabina's killing.

Police said he was carrying a "red reflective object, and possibly trying to conceal it up his sleeve".

Cops also believe he had access to a silver car.

The suspect had a trimmed jawline beard and was wearing grey jogging bottoms.

Detectives urged people in Kent and London to check the CCTV footage to see if they recognise the suspect.
