Russian snipers ‘gang-raped’ mother then ‘sexually assaulted’ girl
Two Russian snipers are accused of a drunken sexual assault on a 4-year-old girl and the gang-rape of her mother. The suspects have been traced by prosecutors in Ukraine to the Russian 15th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade after the brutal attacks in the Brovary district of Kyiv in March 2022.
The Russian snipers, aged 32 and 28, are reported to have broken into the yard of a home where the young family resided, according to victim testimony.
One of the soldiers told the 4-year-old girl that he would “make her a woman” before sexually assaulting her, prosecutors say.
These incidents have been linked to a string of sexual crimes that reportedly committed by soldiers of this brigade in the same area in March 2022.
Prosecutors said: “They singled out the women beforehand, coordinated their actions and their roles.”
The Russian snipers were “in a state of alcoholic intoxication” the prosecutors alleged.
Yevgeniy Chernoknizhniy, the younger of the two men is said to have returned to Russia while the older soldier is believed to have been killed in the war, according to Reuters.
Upon Reuters’ request for the identities of the two soldiers, prosecutors only provided the name of the younger man.
An attempt to contact Chernoknizhniy by calling a phone number found in online databases, resulted in a man claiming to be his brother answering and claiming that the soldier had passed away.

Reuters report that the man was emotional and tearful, and stated that there was no way to reach his deceased brother.
The news agency added that the man declined to provide further details, saying: “That’s all that I can say.”
According to the Ukrainian prosecutors, after the reported assault on the family, the two soldiers went to the house next door, which belonged to an elderly couple, and beat them.
They also allegedly raped a 41-year-old pregnant woman and a 17-year-old girl.
At another location where several families lived, the soldiers allegedly forced everyone into the kitchen and gang-raped a 15-year-old girl and her mother.
Fortunately, all of the victims survived and were receiving psychological and medical support.
Prosecutors are investigating whether superior officials were involved in the Brovary attacks, adding to the growing allegations of systematic sexual abuse by Russian soldiers.
Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s office has received over 71,000 reports of war crimes since Russia sent tens of thousands of troops across the border.
