Russia has just a week left to take Ukraine with generals ‘running out of time’

A US general believes Russia is running out of manpower and ammunition and has just a week left to conquer Ukraine.

Lt Gen Ben Hodges, a veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, said the invaders were in serious trouble.

He said: “That’s why they have reached out to China for help and why they are now recruiting Syrians.

“Russian generals are running out of time, ammunition and manpower. I could be way off, but I am confident of this assessment.”

He said Russia had already committed half its entire combat power to the war.

Hodges added: “At the height of our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, we were about 29% committed – and it was difficult to sustain that.”

He said that on April 1  around 130,000 Russian families are required to send their sons aged 18-25 to conscription centres where they will be inducted into the Russian Army.

Hodges said: “We should do all we can to influence that next intake.

“If we can get some of those families to join those who are already showing the courage to protest, that would send shockwaves across Russia.”

In other news, US officials have spoken out against a Russian fake media report that claimed three American soldiers had been killed fighting in Ukraine – assuring that the men were alive and well.

Russian state-run newspaper Pravda falsely claimed on Thursday (March 17) that three "US mercenaries" had been killed by invading Russian forces.

The three men, named Captain Michael Hawker, Lieutenant Logan Shrum and Lieutenant Cruz Toblin, are reportedly "accounted for" and "safe".

The article made claims that the men were identified by personal belongings inside their bag "near the remains of one of the militants”, which allegedly included a Tennessee state flag.
