  • Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein reported to have left husband and fled to London
  • She is believed to have moved into an £85million town house in Kensington
  • She left her husband Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Maktoum in recent weeks

The younger wife of Dubai’s ruler has moved into an £85million house near Kensington Palace, it has emerged.

Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein is the daughter of the late King Hussein of Jordan.

The 45-year-old princess was not with her husband, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Maktoum, during the recent Royal Ascot race meeting.

Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein (pictured above with husband Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Maktoum in 2008) is reported to have left her husband, the ruler Dubai and one of the world’s richest men, and fled to London

Princess Haya bought this property in Kensington for £85 million from Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal in 2017 and applied for planning permission to alter the Grade II listed building

Media reports said the princess first travelled to Germany, along with the couple’s two children aged, 11 and seven, and then to the London mansion she has recently purchased.

The Princess recently moved into the £85million townhouse which she bought from Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal in 2017.

The property is located on one of London’s most exclusive streets and is a short distance from Kensington Palace.

Soon after buying the house, Princess Haya sought planning permission to carry out renovations on the property.

Among the renovations planned was the installation of ‘stone falcons’. The falcon is a symbol of her native Jordan.

The Guardian said Princess Haya was preparing for a legal battle in London.

According to The Times, Sheikh Mohammed has released some verses about his wife’s disappearance.

He wrote: ‘We have an ailment that no medicine can cure.’

Another said: ‘No experts in herbs can remedy this. I have tried and tried again to meet you but my efforts to approach were in vain.’

Unconfirmed reports claim she has fled the UAE with £31million to start a new life and is seeking a divorce from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Maktoum.

One of the Sheikh’s daughters Princess Latifa, 33, fled Dubai last year but was captured and is currently imprisoned in Dubai.

The Princess made a series of videos before her capture saying her life was a sham and revealing she had earlier spent two years in prison after a previous escape attempt failed.

Since her capture campaigners have been battling for Latifa’s release claiming she is being ‘drugged’ and kept against her will to prevent her from embarrassing her father.

They now want Princess Haya having fled the country to speak up about her treatment.

Campaigners want Princess Haya to speak up about the treatment of one of the Sheikh’s daughters, Princess Latifa (pictured above), who was captured and imprisoned after attempting to flee Dubai last year

The incident resembles an attempt last year by one of the Sheikh’s children, Princess Latifa bint Mohammed Al Maktoum, to attempt to flee her father and Dubai for political asylum in America. She posted this selfie in March 2018 of her (left) and friend Tina Jauhainsen (right) driving from the UAE

Tiina Jauhiainen, of the Free Latifa campaign, said: ‘This is a very significant in terms of a major protest against the oppressive regime of the Crown Prince by his own wife.

‘We would urge Princess Haya to use her global power and influence to help free Latifa, who is and suffering because of her own father’s abusive treatment of her. Princess Haya has the chance to help save her life.

‘Princess Latifa’s life is at stake. She may be a princess, but this is about freedom and equality. Equality, dignity and the right of self-determination for millions of women across the Middle East is at stake.

‘We hope that Princess Haya and her children are safe and that she well use her new found freedom to speak publicly about what has really happened to Latifa and we would urge her to contact us and join our campaign.’

Sheikh Mohammed is yet to comment.
