Royals in ‘security breach as convicted torturer’ gets within feet of Prince George

Kensington Palace has been rocked by a security breach after it was discovered convicted torturer Darren Benjamin, 40, gained access to the west London estate.

Benjamin was caged for seven years back in 2008 for his involvement in a horror torture plot where an innocent man had boiling water poured down his back, in a shocking ordeal that lasted 20 minutes.

The royal family has launched a probe following the close encounter, with Wills and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, said to be “concerned” that the con got so close to their children.

Benjamin was allowed to deliver furniture to the palace in his role as a driver for an independent company, according to reports.

On arrival, it is alleged that Benjamin was greeted by George, seven, Charlotte, four, and Louis, one, who were in the courtyard of the grounds with their nanny Teresa Borallo.

Officials say that Prince William is demanding to get the bottom of how the breach happened, as Benjamin reportedly gushed to pals about how “pleasant” the future king was.

A source told The Sun: “This is the type of potentially deadly security oversight that simply cannot be allowed to happen.

“Darren is a violent criminal who was jailed for the most brutal type of torture.

“It’s chilling as he has been boasting to friends about just how close he came to our future king and the other Cambridge children.

“His friends were shocked that he was able to get into the Palace and within touching distance of royalty given his past.”

A royal insider added: “The Duke has been informed and is obviously taking a close interest into what happened.

“He strongly believes criminals deserve a second chance once they have served their time, but is concerned current security policies might not be strong enough.

“It’s very important we know who is coming into the Palace.”

Staff working inside Kensington Palace have been left gobsmacked by the lack of security checks by the royal’s large security detail which costs the taxpayer millions of pounds every year.

A palace aid said: “As soon as it was brought to our attention an urgent security review was launched to check the current systems and procedures are appropriate.

“Pending the outcome, there will be a refined level of risk assessment for those entering.”
