Royal family no longer call the Queen by her by her nickname, Lilibet
The Queen is no longer referred to by her childhood nickname as Prince Philip was the last remaining royal to call her by the moniker.
The cute nickname goes back to when Her Majesty was too young to be able to say her own name, calling herself "Lilibet" instead.
It was quickly taken up by her grandparents and parents who would fondly use the nickname, Hello! reports.
George VI, the Queen's father, was once quoted with saying: "Lilibet is my pride. Margaret is my joy."
The Queen would regularly sign letters using this shorter version of Elizabeth.
One example is a sweet thank you note she wrote to Queen Mary, her grandmother.
A young Elizabeth penned: "Darling Granny. Thank you very much for the lovely doll's house. I do love it, and I have unpacked the dining room and the hall. Love from Lilibet xxx."
Although the cute name was used by her parents and husband, no one else in the royal family calls the Monarch "Lilibet".
But the name is of course still being used by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who named their daughter Lilibet, in honour of the Queen.
