Road rage driver’s car flips over three times after tailgating spat

Road rage driver’s car flips over three times after tailgating spat which saw him reach speeds of up to 101mph before he crashed into barrier

  • Wayne Sebury, of Pontypridd, was in Mini on M4, near Port Talbot, South Wales
  • 59-year-old got in spat with Paul Carpenter, 44, of Boxhill, Surrey, last June
  • Pair undertook each other and flashed lights before Sebury’s car hit barrier
  • Sebury given 18-month community order, disqualified from driving for 12 months and 150 hours’ unpaid work
  • Carpenter was jailed for six months and disqualified from driving for 18 months

A road rage driver was caught on dashcam driving at 101mph before his car flipped over three times.

Wayne Sebury, 59, was driving his blue Mini on the M4 near Port Talbot, South Wales, when he got involved in a spat with Paul Carpenter, 44.

The pair began tailgating and repeatedly undertaking each other while wildly flashing their lights.

Dashcam video footage shows Sebury’s car veering across the lanes of the motorway in the high-speed incident.

Dashcam video footage shows Sebury’s car veering across the lanes of the motorway at speeds of up to 101mph – before he hit a barrier next to the hard shoulder, causing his vehicle to flip three times during the incident last June

He then smashes into the barriers next to the hard shoulder before the car rolls across the motorway – leaving it strewn with glass, metal and contents from his vehicle.

A court heard the shocking incident took place in June last year.

Sebury, of Pontypridd, South Wales, and Carpenter, of Boxhill, Surrey, both denied any wrongdoing.

Sebury was given an 18-month community order, disqualified from driving for 12 months and must carry out 150 hours’ unpaid work. Carpenter was jailed for six months and disqualified from driving for 18 months

But they later pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at Cardiff Crown Court.

Sebury was given an 18-month community order, disqualified from driving for 12 months and must carry out 150 hours’ unpaid work.

Carpenter was jailed for six months and disqualified from driving for 18 months.

PC Kathryn Matthews, of the South Wales Police, said: ‘This incident was a classic case of road rage where two motorists have driven dangerously, at high speeds, undertaking, tailgating and flashing their lights.

‘It is sheer luck that nobody was killed or seriously injured and the dash cam footage of the incident sends out a clear message about the consequences of driving in such an irresponsible manner.’
