Rapist MMA fighter, 21, let off by cops went on to attack another TWO uni students just months later

A RAPIST MMA fighter who was let off by cops after sexual assault claims went on to attack two more university students just months later.

Charles Goodwin, 21, was found guilty rape, assault by penetration and sexual assault in different incidents of three women.

The Liverpool University business management student described himself as a "sex god" and told Liverpool Crown Court he was a "hopeless romantic", according to The Times.

In January 2020, Goodwin met a woman in a central Manchester nightclub and the pair went back to her halls.

He told her she should be "treated like a princess", the court heard, but once inside her room, he turned aggressive.

While forcing himself on her, he attempted to choke her while calling her names like a "slut".

He anally raped her her while holding her by the throat despite her crying out "no".

She said: “I was terrified for my life. I thought he was going to kill me.”

After her flatmate knocked on her door, she was able to get away from him and lodged a complaint with the GMP at 5:30am soon after he left.

Goodwin to be arrested but he was released without charge on bail under investigation.

Only eight months later, in September 2020 he got a student drunk and raped her at their university halls.

Inside the same halls, he sexually assaulted another women just three days later.

The pair had slept together consensually but a few nights later got her so drunk that she was unable to walk.

Despite being put to bed by another friend, when she woke up in the morning Goodwin was having sex with her.

She was confused before she recalled screaming as Goodwin had anally raped her the night before.

For two days, the woman had scratches on her stomach and hand-prints on her body.

In making a call to her sister, she said: “She saw me: I was in a state and confused and trying to come to terms with what had happened. I was in a lot of pain that day.”

He convinced her not to go to the police and claimed it was a drunken mistake.

'TOOK WHAT HE WANTED'

Just three days later, Goodwin comforted a woman who was upset another student wasn't interested in a relationship.

Goodwin gave her a lot of alcohol to the point where she couldn't stand up.

When he got her alone, he tried to make her touch his penis, and when she walked away he pulled down her pants and hit her twice on her bottom.

She said: “There wasn’t any communication beforehand of what [we] might like. He just took what he wanted.”

When the woman found out another woman had made a complaint against him, she was disappointed action wasn't taken immediately.

The second victim said: "Why did it take three victims for him to be remanded?

"Why wasn't he remanded immediately? I think there are definitely failings in the handling of the Manchester case."

The judge said he should expect “a lengthy period of imprisonment” after a jury convicted him at Liverpool crown court in January.

Goodwin will be sentenced on Thursday.
