RAF mechanic and vet nurse wife killed as they crossed road in LA

The devastated pal of a tragic British couple of ex-pats killed crossing the road in the US has described them as "perfect" for each other.

Grimsby-born Lucy Cooper and her RAF mechanic husband Sean suffered fatal injuries after being hit by a car in Los Angeles.

The pair were repatriated back to the UK for an emotional funeral, LincolnshireLive reports.

Friend Kimberley Washbourn said: "It was so clear to everyone how much Sean and Lucy loved each other, and I am so glad they were able to follow their dreams in seeing the world, together."

"Lucy was one of the most caring, beautiful and kind-hearted people I was ever lucky enough to call a friend.

"Her sense of humour and bubbly personality were infectious and she made the lives of everyone who knew her so much better."

Lucy, 28, and Sean, 32, died following the tragic incident when they were hit by a Toyota Prius.

Kimberley met Lucy while the pair were working as waitresses in South Hykeham, Lincolnshire, and remained friends.

She added: "The times we spent together will be in my heart forever and I will think about you and miss you, every day.

"Sleep tight angels and rest in peace, together."

Details of the couple's tragic deaths were revealed this month following an inquest in Lincoln, where Lucy's family live.

The couple moved to the US when Sean was deployed as a mechanical aircraft technician at a US Air Force base in California.

Describing Sean, Kimberley added: "He was kind, funny and a genuinely lovely person.

"The thing that stuck out was how much he loved and adored Lucy, they were absolutely perfect for each other."

According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at around 3.15am on September 4.

It said the pair were crossing Avenue L when they were hit by the car which was travelling at around 45 to 50mph.
