Queen shows signs of ‘tidying up royal affairs for dark day’, expert says
The Queen has shown a "pre-emptive" move of "tidying up" royal affairs as she gave support to Camilla to be the future Queen in her extraordinary address to the public, a royal expert said.
Her Majesty laid out her desires for the future of the Royal Family as she marked her 70 years on the throne on Sunday (February 6).
She mentioned that Camilla "will be known as Queen Consort" when Prince Charles becomes King in the future.
Robert Hardman, a Daily Mail columnist, believed it's a move for the 95-year-old Monarch to prepare for a "dark day" with a change of reign.
He told Sky News: "I don't think anyone was expecting that. But she always looks to the future.
"She could see that when the dark day comes and we have a change of reign, the last thing King Charles will want is distractions over how we address his wife.
"The Queen can understand how important it is, when you're in this position, to have someone by your side, to have a sounding board, a partner that you can just tell everything to. And she had that with Prince Philip for 73 years."

The expert also mentioned that the Queen could see how important her mother, as the last Queen Consort, was to her father King George VI during his reign.
"For a thousand years, the wife of a King has always been a Queen so why should this one be any different?" he continued.
"It's a pre-emptive tidying up of something that was going to happen and I think it's very timely. I don't think anyone can possibly dispute that."

Daily Star on Sunday revealed that a small team of senior officers are understood to have prepared a “working plan” for Charles to be crowned, which sources say is expected to take place in 2023.
A senior military source said: "We are shaping a military event that will need approval from the Palace nearer the time.
"Our role is the ceremonial presentation and to make sure we are ready for whatever date is decided.
“We have lots of contingencies in place – but this will be special."
