Russia is expected to ramp up its patriotic education amid its invasion of Ukraine in a change to historical programming, with compulsory courses for children as young as seven.

The Russian Education Ministry made the announcement at the opening of an "Everyday Nazism" exhibition, which is set to be shown at a nationwide schools forum.

The forum, named "The Power is in the Truth," and the subsequent changing of children's education is a move endorsed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

A speech given by the the Russian President show that he wanted to ensure children were taught the "correct" version of Russian history.

Putin said: "A deep understanding of our history and a respectful, thoughtful attitude to the great patriotic, spiritual and cultural heritage of the Fatherland enables us to draw correct conclusions from the past."

The plan will see a three-year reduction for the current age of students sitting compulsory history lessons in Russia, with historical education incorporated into parts of the school curriculum.

Russian Education Minister Sergei Krastov said: "Historical education will begin in schools from the first grade.

"We will never allow it [to be written] that we somehow treated other nations – our fraternal nations of Ukraine and Belarus – poorly. We will do everything in our power so that historical memory is preserved."

Other desperate changes to inflict Russian patriotism onto students are the singing of the national anthem at the start of each week and the raising of the Russian flag.

Changes to the education system in Russia are set to take place under "The Power is in the Truth" forum on May 9, the same day Russia celebrates the anniversary of Nazi Germany's surrender to Soviet troops in 1945.

The Kremlin's manipulation of history and the media continues, with a law passed last month criminalising any public opposition or news reporting that did not actively support Putin's narrative on the invasion of Ukraine, LADBible reported.
