Prince William says Charlotte and George have ‘massive fights’ over music choice
Prince William has shared what his children, Princess Charlotte and George, have 'massive fights' over.
The Duke of Cambridge revealed the details on the Time To Walk podcast series available to Apple Fitness+ subscribers.
In the audio walking tour, celebrities and influential figures share personal stories and meaningful music in a bid to get the public moving and boost mental health.
While strolling around the Queen’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk, where he has a home, Prince William can be heard breaking down as he discusses the three songs that mean most to him.
He described how his mother would put on The Best by Tina Turner in the car and sing to him and his brother to help with “the anxiety of going back to school”, as reported by the Times.
The 39-year-old, who was 15 when his mother Diana, Princess of Wales, died in 1997, says: “One of the songs I massively remember and has stuck with me all this time, and I to this day still quite enjoy secretly, is Tina Turner’s The Best.
“My mother, she’d be driving along singing at the top of her voice. We’d even get the policeman in the car […] singing along as well”.
William says his children, Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3, have “already inherited my family’s love of music”. Leading to ‘massive fights’ most mornings between Charlotte and George over who picks the music played each morning.
He says Waka Waka by Shakira is a current favourite. “There’s a lot of hip movements going along, a lot of dressing-up. Charlotte particularly is running around the kitchen in her dresses and ballet stuff.
"She gets completely crazy, with Louis following her around trying to do the same thing. It’s a really happy moment where the children just enjoy dancing, messing around and singing.”
Royal sources said William, who made the recording in February, approached Apple after being “really impressed” by previous episodes.
A source close to the prince said: “By revealing a lot about himself and how he deals with his own mental health, the good, the bad, the light and the dark, he hopes it will be helpful for people to know that everyone goes through those feelings. It doesn’t matter who you are: don’t feel you’re alone.”
