Royal fans were feeling the heat when the latest Instagram post from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge showed an unbuttoned Prince William.

Photographs captured a more casual side of the Duke of Cambridge as he left his top few buttons undone to reveal his chest hair.

The account released a series of photos as Prince William attended an engagement for 999 Day.

One Twitter user, described as a royal fan account, zoomed in on the Prince’s opened top button and wrote: "Errr. Pardon me while I swoon (again)."

Users of Instagram were also hot under the collar with a number using the fire emoji and commenting how "handsome" Prince William is.

There were also plenty of users just happy to see the Duke of Cambridge out in public with many commenting they can’t wait to see the Duchess, Kate Middleton.

However, the photographs and post were to highlight an important day as we look to praise the work of heroes.

On the official Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Instagram account, the photographs were captioned with: "This 999 Day we’re saying a huge thank you to all the heroic people working and volunteering in the emergency services and the NHS."

The post then encourages Instagram users to swipe to see more photos of an unbuttoned Prince William meeting some heroes and those they saved.

This included 5-year-old Lila, who was successfully resuscitated by ambulance technician Charlotte, along with firefighters Marc and James.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also sent a congratulatory message on Instagram to British tennis sensation Emma Raducanu after she reached the US Open final.

Their Instagram account commented on a post from Raducanu which said: "Pure happiness under the lights in New York."

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge replied: "What an incredible achievement Emma!

"We will all be rooting for you tomorrow. Wishing you the best of luck! C."
