Prince Harry’s ever-thinning hair on show as he breaks cover amid royal row

Prince Harry is stepping back from senior royal duties, so it's understandable his crown is looking a little unstable.

The 35-year-old's thinning hair has been a source of much rumour and speculation in recent years.

Eagle-eyed royal watchers noted the speed of his hair loss seemed to step up a gear after his marriage to Meghan Markle in May 2018.

At his first official public engagement since the couple's bombshell announcement last week, Harry's once-thick mane was looking particularly skimpy, his ever-widening bald spot on full show as he hosted the Rugby League World Cup 2021 draw at Buckingham Palace.

Superintendent trichologist Rali Bozhinova from the Belgravia Centre says Harry's hair is following a similar pattern to that of his older brother William, which will have been passed down to the brothers from their parents and grandparents.

"We're seeing thinning especially across the hairline and crown, which is typical for male pattern baldness," she told Daily Star Online.

Harry's been under a lot of stress with his recent announcement that he and Meghan will be moving to North America where they hope to become financially independent, cutting ties with the Firm.

The intense public scrutiny as well as negative criticism of their decision won't be doing his locks any favours.

"Intense or long-term stress can certainly have a negative impact on the hair growth cycle and aggravate the condition," Ms Bozhinova said.

"The hair loss won't be because of stress, but stress can make it worse."

Another hair expert previously told Daily Star Online that if the rapid rate of hair loss seen since the Royal Wedding continues, Harry could be "completely bald" within five years.

Ms Bozhinova said it's impossible to say for sure whether the Duke will keep losing his hair at this rate.

"Some young guys lose all their hair almost at once, while some older men have been slowly losing it for 20 years."

Unlike many royal fans who have said Harry should take a leaf out of Dwayne Johnson's book and shave his head bald, Ms Bozhinova doesn't think the royal hair is a lost cause.

"I wouldn't say he should do anything in regards to shaving it or not shaving it, it's a very personal choice," she said.

"He might be happy with it this way."
