Prince Harry to have ‘fleeting’ UK visit to unveil Princess Diana statue

Prince Harry and his brother Prince William "won't get to spend much time together" while the Duke of Sussex is in the UK next week as his visit will be "fleeting", it has been reported.

A statue of Diana, Princess of Wales is due to be revealed on July 1 for what would have been her 60th birthday.

Prince Harry and Prince William commissioned the statue in 2017 to mark 20 years since her untimely death in Paris.

It will sit in the Sunken Garden at her former Kensington Palace home, which was one of Princess Diana's favourite spots.

With the Duke of Sussex now living in the US with his wife Meghan Markle and children Archie and Lilibet, he will be flying over for the satue unveiling, which he will attend alongside his brother.

But Prince Harry will be spending considerably less time in the country than the last time he was over, which was when he attended his granddad Prince Philip's funeral in April.

A source told Us Weekly: "It’ll be a fleeting visit. He’ll be in and out."

It is reported this is because the Duke of Sussex wants to "get back" to his family in Montecito, California.

The source added: "While the brothers are uniting for the unveiling, sadly, they won’t get to spend much time together."

The ceremony unveiling the Princess Diana statue was announced last summer in a rare joint statement issued by the brothers.

It read: "The statue that Prince William and Prince Harry have commissioned to commemorate their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, will be installed next year on what would have been her 60th Birthday.

"The statue was commissioned to mark the 20th anniversary of her death and recognise her positive impact in the UK and around the world.

"The statue will be installed in the Sunken Garden of Kensington Palace on 1st July 2021, marking the Princess’s 60th birthday.

"The Princes hope that the statue will help all those who visit Kensington Palace to reflect on their mother’s life and her legacy."

Kate Middleton will reportedly help her husband Prince William and his brother Harry to 'put on a united front' at the unveiling.

“The Duchess has seen this project evolve from its conception and now to the finished article and undoubtedly wants to be there to support her husband," a royal source said.

He added: "No doubt there will be tensions between the Cambridges and Harry, but they all recognise that despite the obvious and deep rooted issues between them, they want the day to be solely about the Princess of Wales’s enduring legacy.”
