Prince Harry called the Queen to check up on his ill grandfather Prince Phillip after he was taken to hospital last week, according to reports.

The worried Duke of Sussex asked about the 99-year-old's health as he was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in Central London.

It comes as the Duke of Edinburgh spent his fifth day in the hospital, prompting concerns about the severity of his health.

However, he is said to be admitted under precaution.

Harry checked up on Prince Phillip last week while isolating in his LA mansion with wife Meghan Markle, reports Mail on Sunday.

However, the 36-year-old is said to be making plans to fly back to the UK in a private jet to see his grandfather if the worst happens, reports The Mirror.

He has already made arrangements to fly by private jet and is being kept “regularly informed” of his grandfather’s condition, revealed a source.

The prince will be tested before leaving the US and upon entering the country, it is understood.

On Friday, a source said: "Following consultation with his doctor, the Duke of Edinburgh is likely to remain in hospital for observation and rest over the weekend and into next week.

"As we have said previously, the doctor is acting with an abundance of caution. The duke remains in good spirits."

Harry's call comes amid the bombshell announcement of his Oprah interview with Meghan Markle.

The couple have reportedly filmed a 90 minutes special, due to air on March 7 and "nothing is off limits."

Harry and Meghan were stripped of their Royal titles last week, and also announced their were expecting their second child.

The duo reportedly recorded the interview on Tuesday, the same day Prince Phillip was taken to hospital.

Currently, the only Royal to have visited the Duke of Edinburgh is Prince Charles.

He arrived at around 3:20pm on Saturday wearing a face mask and stayed at the hospital for around 30 minutes.
