Prince Charles praised for his fashion sense by British Vogue's editor
PRINCE Charles has had his fashion sense praised by the editor of style bible Vogue.
The thrifty royal, 71, said he loves quality clobber which he prefers to gets fixed rather than throw away.
In an interview, Vogue editor Edward Enninful, 48, told the Prince of Wales: “I’ve always admired the way you dress.”
Charles replied: “I thought I was like a stopped clock — I’m right twice every 24 hours.
“I’m very glad you think it has style. I mind about detail and colour combinations.
"I’m lucky because I can find marvellous people who are brilliant makers of the things that I appreciate and, because of that, I try to keep them going for longer.”
He is helping to launch a sustainable fashion collection by students from his Scottish base at Dumfries House.
Charles, who has campaigned on environmental issues for more than 30 years, said: “I happen to be one of those people who’d get shoes — or any item of clothing — repaired.”
He recalled: “When I was a child, we used to take our shoes down to the cobbler in Scotland and would watch with fascination as he ripped the soles off then put new soles on.”
- The full interview is in December’s Vogue, available via digital download and on newsstands tomorrow.
