Presidential election 2020: Did Andrew Yang drop out the election?
The US 2020 Presidential election is now finally starting to take shape, as Democratic candidates begin to shore up support in primaries across the country. Swathes of people have dropped out of the race, recently some high profile candidates.
Did Andrew Yang drop out of the 2020 election?
Andrew Yang was among the most promising candidates to take the Democrat nomination this year, with an energetic campaign focussed on a selection of forward-thinking policies.
Much like fellow frontrunner Bernie Sanders, Mr Yang hoped to reduce the financial burden on Americans with Medicaid for all and “human-centred” capitalism.
He has received the backing of several celebrities, among them Hollywood superstar Kevin Costner and legendary comedian Dave Chapelle.

Despite his popularity, however, the New York-based entrepreneur has dropped out of the Presidential race.
He ended his campaign on February 11, as did Colorado Senator Michael Bennett.
According to RealClearPolitics, Mr Yang polled seventh out of the remaining 16 candidates yesterday on 3.6 percent of the prospective vote, and Bennett 10th on 0.6.
A total of 22 people have dropped out of the race so far, among them senator Cory Booker.
Mr Booker, State Senator for New Jersey, announced he would drop out of the nomination race on January 13.
He announced his decision via Twitter, thanking those who “gave me a shot” during the process.
He wrote: “It’s with a full heart that I share this news – I’m suspending my campaign for president.
“To my team, supporters, and everyone who gave me a shot – thank you.”

“I am so proud of what we built, and I feel nothing but faith in what we can accomplish together.”
In an email to his supporters, he added: “I’m proud of the ideas we brought to this Democratic primary and, more importantly, the values we championed throughout – that the only way we make progress is by bringing people together – even when we were told that our approach couldn’t win.”
The presidential hopeful focussed his campaign on “love and unity” as he hoped to repair the damage dealt by the “divisive” rhetoric of Donald Trump.
He ultimately failed to chime with voters on matters of criminal justice reform and pledges to reduce racial and economic inequality.
While Mr Booker’s race for the Oval Office is over, the former Democrat hopeful may be open to a Vice President nomination.
Speaking to CBS This Morning on Tuesday, he said he wouldn’t rule out running for Vice President if asked.
He said he has had “no conversations” to that effect, however.
He added: “I’m not taking anything off the table but my focus really is New Jersey and my state.”
