‘Porno MP’ forced to quit after being seen watching explicit video during debate

An MP for Serbia’s Socialist Party has been forced to resign from his parliamentary position after being caught watching pornography during a key debate on the future Kosovo.

Zvonimir Stevic, who was chairman of the Serbian parliament’s “Committee for Kosovo”, was seen in the debating chamber flicking between a hardcore pornographic video and an X-rated massage video as his colleagues debated the future of the tiny state.

A clip from Serbia’s Parliament TV channel circulated widely on social media before breaking on mainstream news channels.

Stevic’s boss, Ivica Dačić, responded to the scandal in a message to the disgraced MP, saying: “This is a scandal and a disaster. Zvonko, it is realistic for you to resign. You can no longer remain a deputy, because you cannot deal with this”.

He added: “Wherever you appear, whatever you say, you will always be a porno MP”.

The debate on Kosovo’s future saw some angry clashes in the Serbian parliament.

While Russia and China have both supported Serbia’s refusal to recognise the Albanian-majority state, the US, the UK and many other countries including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and Turkey have acknowledged the country’s right to exist.

Serbia’s reluctance to accept Kosovan independence is said to be the largest obstacle preventing Serbian membership of the EU.

  • Neil Parish's audacious TV interview before being named as 'porn watching' MP

In April last year, Neil Parish, at the time Conservative MP for Tiverton and Honiton in Devon, was suspended after twice being caught accessing porn on his phone while in the House of Commons.

Speaking to reporters after the incident became public Parish said it was a "complete mistake"

Parish said: "I need to speak to my wife, which is most important at the moment. It was a complete mistake and I will man up to it as they say.

"My main concern at the moment is my very supportive wife. Stupidity rages."

Speaking to the BBC, Parish admitted that he had watched pornography in the Palace of Westminster on two occasions, first “accidentally” and then deliberately in what he called “a moment of madness”.
