Politician brands Teletubbies ‘little gay demons’ in unprovoked Twitter outburst

An American commentator and politician has called children’s TV favourites the Teletubbies “little gay demons” for asking Lil Nas X if they could feature on the next album.

Lauren Witzke, a former Republican nominee for US Senate, posted a screenshot of a tweet from the Teletubbies to Lil Nas X with the caption “I always knew that the Teletubbies were little gay demons.”

The official Twitter account of the lovable Teletubbies posted a message to the rapper with Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa Laa and Po doing a cover tribute to the rapper’s album Montero.

Witzte’s post has seemingly left her with tubby custard on her face after it actually gathered more support for the Teletubbies.

One user said: “Imagine being pressed about imaginary children’s characters posting a meme.”

While another said: “are you really that upset over a toddler show? grow up, you’re an adult. As a christian myself, you are the complete opposite of one. you’re supposed to love your neighbor and treat people how you want to be treated. God would be ashamed of you.”

Teletubbies was a massive hit when it launched on UK screens in the late 90s and its revival series is still on screens and streaming services today. The quartet’s antics and tubby custard also gained popularity in the US.

The kids TV favourites had the last laugh when they actually got a response from Lil Nas X who is up for future collaboration.

The rapper tweeted: “alright bet! me and tinky winky on the hook, dipsy & po on the verses and we’ll let laa laa do the outro.”

The Teletubbies twitter replied: “Perfect, we’ll see you in the studio @LilNasX!”

This is not actually the first time the Teletubbies have been brought up in relation to the LGBTQ+ community by a US figure.

As reported by the LGBTQNation, former Trump aide Sebastian Gorka claimed Teletubbies ‘started that whole trans thing’ during a radio talk show.

He said: “I think that whole trans thing started with Teletubbies. Remember? One of them wore a tutu.”
