Police hunt man and woman who dragged female passenger off Tube train, beat her up and robbed her handbag

Police are hunting a man and woman who violently robbed a female passenger of her handbag after dragging her off of a Tube train. 

The assault on the victim was launched by two gang members causing a ruckus on the train in West London. 

At around 3.30pm on February 9, the group, including a man and woman, were on the westbound Central Line. 

The train reached East Acton station and the man from the group grabbed a woman’s bag from the carriage. 

As she fought to grab her bag back, she was pulled off the train by a woman that the man was with. 

The woman shouted at her and repeatedly punched her in the face.

She was then pushed to the floor of the station platform and hit and kicked in the face by the woman.

The man rummaged in her pocket as the assault continued and took her phone before fleeing, 

Police have today released two CCTV images of a man and woman detectives believe could have information about the crime.

A spokesman for the British Transport Police (BTP) said today: ‘Officers investigating a violent robbery at East Acton Underground station are today releasing CCTV images in connection.

‘At 3.30pm on Wednesday, February 9, a group including a man and woman were causing a disturbance on a westbound Central Line service.

‘As the train reached East Acton station, the man from the group grabbed the bag of another female passenger.

‘She tried to get it back from him, before the woman he was with pulled her off the train, shouting and hitting her in the face.

‘The victim was pushed on the floor of the platform and was repeatedly punched and kicked in the face by the woman.

‘The man then took the victim’s phone from her pocket before the group left the station.

‘Officers believe the people in the CCTV images may have information which could help their investigation.’
