Police hunt cyclist who was caught on CCTV shoving pensioner, 83, to the ground after verbally abusing him as he walked on pavement

Police are hunting a cyclist who was caught on CCTV shoving a pensioner to the ground as he went for a morning walk.

Footage released by Hampshire Police shows the rider getting off his bike and pushing the 83-year-old man along Hightown Road in Ringwood at around 6.35am on October 18.

Officers said the cyclist reportedly brushed past the victim and verbally abused him before the assault, then fled the scene. The pensioner was not seriously injured, the force added.

The cyclist is described as having dark hair, which was shaved at the sides, wearing a black backpack and having a white carrier bag on his bike.

A force spokesman added: ‘In conducting their initial inquiries, officers believe that the cyclist travels a similar route on a daily basis.

‘Anyone with information in relation to this incident, which could prove valuable in identifying the person responsible, is asked to call 101.’
