Plane passenger reacts in fury as baggage handlers slam his valuable luggage

A Ryanair passenger travelling with his musical instruments has angrily hit out at the behaviour of a baggage handler who was seen casually chucking his baggage around.

James Elson said he was looking out of the window when he saw his instruments being loaded.

But rather than being carefully handled, they were hurled around by the member of the ground crew while James could only watch on helplessly and film the incident through the aeroplane’s window.

He took to Twitter to vent his anger, tagging Ryanair into his complaint.

Captioning the video that he shot, he wrote: “Our fragile musical instruments being looked after – not. @Ryanair, Blue Handling – absolutely appalling customer service. To think the amount we paid for you to take them…”

His clip has since gone viral and has been viewed more than 5.5million times, prompting a flurry of comments.

The feedback has included a mixture of anger on James’s behalf and some gallows humour.

One comment said: “This is an absolute disgraceful service. A customer’s baggage should be treated with care. It doesn’t take much longer to be careful when it’s obvious there is something delicate. A little respect from all airline employees would be expected.”

Another Twitter user simply said: “That’s deliberate. No question,” while a more sarcastic response read: “That’s Ryanair and its whole beautiful supply chain at play.”

Meanwhile, one Twitter user sardonically referred to his own experience with baggage handlers, saying: “I once watched my luggage being run over by a de-icing truck in Örnsköldsvik. Twice. Works better than a Corby trouser press.”

James also received some feedback from people who said that such an incident was always likely to happen.

“Playing devil’s advocate; you placed them into cargo,” said one comment.

“I know others with valuable instruments will pay for an extra seat. I don’t see the baggage handler doing anything wrong.”

Ryanair has been asked to comment.
