Petite food blogger takes on one of Britain’s biggest fish and chips – a £42 and 4,000 calorie feast
FOOD blogger Kate Ovens celebrates her local chippie reopening by tucking into a £42 family-sized takeaway, washed down with a pint of lager.
Petite size ten Kate, 26, polished off a 4,000 calorie meal including a 2ft-long 32oz cod, chips, mushy peas, curry sauce and gravy.
She is famed for mega-meal challenges and this one — viewed online more than two million times — was made especially for her in her hometown of Fleet, Hants.
Kate said: “I’ve had fish and chips from Ancell’s a couple of times since they re-opened, so when they offered to create this challenge just for me, I jumped at the chance.
“It was so big, they couldn’t wrap it up, so I had to take it home in the tray.
“The batter was crisp and crunchy, and the fish was flaky – it was perfect.
“I had to switch things up with the curry sauce towards the end, but it was a delight.
“I wasn’t timing myself, but it took about 30 minutes to finish because I really wanted to savour every bite.”
Kate is famed for taking on huge food challenges, including a three-foot long sausage roll, and Britain’s biggest hotdog.
Her food challenge videos regularly get millions of views online, and she has more than 230,000 followers on her Kate Ovens Facebook fan page.
