Paramedic shows off his driving skills while weaving through traffic

Ambulance footage shows Turkish paramedic’s astonishing driving skills as he dodges through city traffic on an emergency callout

A Turkish paramedic’s phenomenal driving skills have won him legions of online fans who lap up videos showing him cutting through busy traffic to attend emergencies.

Footage from Necmettin Guntekin’s ambulance shows him weaving between cars in Istanbul to rush to the aid of a three-year-old child who had swallowed a small ball.  

The footage, shared on TikTok on January 13, has been watched more than 21 million times with thousands of viewers liking and praising Guntekin’s cool head and quick reflexes.

Guntekin shared footage of the emergency call on his TikTok page where it has been viewed more than 21 million times

The footage shows how Guntekin squeezed his ambulance through narrow gaps between cars and trucks on the highway so he could save time on reaching the child. 

Steering with this left hand, he held a handset in his right, which he also used to change gear.   

A spokesperson for the ambulance service in Istanbul, said: ‘Our team decided that foreign body ingestion could be caused by respiratory arrest.’

Commenting on the footage, Guntekin said: ‘Our team was assigned to the case and the traffic density was quite high, so I showed such a driving performance to reach the case as soon as possible.’  

More than 7,200 people have commented on the footage, including some who questioned why the other drivers failed to move out of the way for the ambulance.

The footage was shot on January 13, in Istanbul and shared on TikTok. 

Guntekin has previously shared footage that showed him attending other emergency callouts while driving under blue lights.
