One person dead and cop injured as courthouse is locked down after shooting

One person has died and an officer has been injured following a shooting outside a district courthouse, police have said.
Sheriff Troy Peterson said the injured officer is a Harrison County deputy and was rushed to Merit Health Hospital on a stretcher.
Cops have confirmed one person is dead following the incident, which took place outside the Harrison County courthouse on Friday evening.
According to Sun Herald, a body can be seen covered under a blanket on the east side of the courthouse.
Mississippi Bureau of Investigation officers are at the scene, as MBI investigate all shootings involving law enforcement officers.
The courthouse was sealed off with crime scene tape in the evening, after an alert was sent out at 4pm local time.
Residents were told to avoid the area, and the courthouse was in lockdown until further notice.
It's been confirmed the shooting involved both the Biloxi Police Department and the Harrison County Sheriff's Department.

Harrison County Board of Supervisors Public Information Officer Jeff Clark said employees were allowed to leave and the courthouse is no longer under lockdown.
While the MBI investigates the shooting details are limited at this time of how the incident unfolded.
