Ocasio-Cortez blames Jeanine Pirro for death threats against Ilhan Omar
Freshman New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is blaming a Fox News host for the death threat made against her fellow congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
The Democrat darling linked Jeanine Pirro’s controversial comments questioning Omar’s loyalty to the US to a phone call the lawmaker’s office received in which an upstate man allegedly called her a “terrorist” and threatened to kill her.
“Understand when Jeanine Pirro goes on Fox + rallies people to think hijabs are threatening, it leads to this,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Saturday night, along with a link to a story on the death threat against the Muslim House member.
“Folks who imply we’re ‘bad’ for politics, the party, the country, etc. have no idea the threats we deal w/ because of that kind of language,” she added. “Talk policy, not personal.”
Last month on her program, “Justice with Judge Jeanine,” Pirro went after Omar, questioning whether the Minnesota congresswoman’s hijab is “antithetical to the United States Constitution.”
The comments came as Omar faced heat for using anti-Jewish tropes earlier this year, saying that support for Israel was “all about the Benjamins” and accusing Jewish-American lawmakers of “dual loyalty.”
Fox yanked Pirro off the air temporarily following the statement.
Also in March, Addison, NY, resident Patrick Carlineo, 55, allegedly called Omar’s office and asked a staffer “Do you work for the Muslim Brotherhood?” federal prosecutors said Friday.
“Why are you working for her, she’s a (expletive). I’ll put a bullet in her (expletive) skull,” Carlineo railed on, authorities said.
Carlineo, who was charged with threatening to assault and murder Omar, is being held pending a hearing Wednesday.
