Mr Trump has been residing at his Mar-a Lago resort in Florida ever since he left the White House in January. He has reportedly been playing lots of golf, as he continues to recuperate from the stress and pressures of being the leader of the “free world”. According to his advisors, the rest has done wonders for his physical health.

One confidante told Business Insider: “When I saw him, he looked healthier and in better physical condition than I had seen him in a long time.”

Another added: “He was eating all those M&M’s on [Air Force One] all the time.

“He’s a big man with a big frame, and he’s lost a lot of weight.

“I can’t tell you how much, but it’s a lot.

“You can see it in his suits.”

The 74-year-old former president is 6 foot 3 inches tall and when he left office reportedly weighed 244 pounds.

That equates to a Body Mass Index of 30.5, meaning that Mr Trump was technically and scientifically “obese” on quitting the White House.

Mr Trump is renowned for his love of fast food, including McDonald’s, Burger King and KFC.

His eating habits have been revealed in a book written by his former campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski.

In ‘Let Trump Be Trump’, Mr Lewandowski revealed that his ex boss was particularly partial to a McDonald’s.

He claims that Mr Trump’s preferred order was “a full McDonald’s dinner of two Big Macs, two Filet-O-Fish sandwiches, and a small chocolate shake – a total of 2,430 calories.”

Such was his passion for the burger brand, that Mr Trump even asked the White House kitchen to recreate the food when he was President.
