New York City mayoral hopeful Andrew Yang offered his services up as a bidet salesman for an advertisement on his podcast, “Yang Speaks.”
“It makes you more environmentally friendly. It will make you more sophisticated. It will make you more European,” the Democrat contender said on behalf of bidet maker Tushy. “You can start using a French accent”
“It’s one of those things where other countries have figured it out and Americans are a little bit behind the curve on this one,” Yang continued.
Bidets have been common in bathrooms in Europe and Asia for decades, but have long had trouble making a splash in the United States.
Small American bathrooms plus high installation costs have long made the product prohibitive. Tushy, a Brooklyn-based company started in 2015 produces a cheap attachable device that can hook up to your can.
“Hello Tushy has made a modern bidet attachment to democratize the blessing bestowed by bidets … and offer clean butt holes to everyone,” added Yang’s podcast co-host and former presidential campaign manager Zach Graumann laughing. “I can’t believe I am reading this.”
Yang said anyone who ordered a Bidet with the promo code “Yang” would receive a 10 percent discount.
It’s common for podcast hosts like Yang to hawk sponsor products during their program. In addition to bidet’s Yang and Graumann also pitched scooters, mattresses and Indeed.com.
Reps for Tushy did not respond to request for comment from The Post.
“This oppo dump is just lazy. Our opponents can float all the dirty research they want but Andrew Yang pledged to run a clean campaign and that’s what he’s gonna do,” A campaign spokesman told The Post.
