An assistant principal in Brooklyn bravely fought off a menacing coyote with a stick while walking on a Massachusetts beach last week, a report said.

Marcy Sterlis’ horrifying ordeal began as she was putting her sneakers back on at Race Point Beach in Provincetown last Thursday shortly before noon, Boston 25 News reported.

The coyote snuck up to within four to five feet of Sterlis, then circled around her for about 10 minutes as she screamed for help and waved the stick at the wild animal.

“It was a little too curious because it wasn’t responding to my screams to get away from me or shaking at the stick,” Sterlis recalled in an interview with the news station.

“I was screaming at it. The only thing that did work was when I lunged,” she said.

The woman’s cries for help attracted the attention of a pair of nearby fishermen, who filmed part of the up-close encounter and came to Sterlis’ rescue.

“As I took my binoculars out, I said ‘that’s not a dog,’” fisherman Andrew DeCarton told Boston 25 News.

The coyote finally scurried away after Captain William Kelley navigated towards Sterlis.

“I pulled up close enough, started banging my ore on the side of the boat. That’s when he started to run away,” Kelley told the news station.

Sterlis was able to return to her car unscathed and she reported the incident to a park office.
