North Ormesby house fire – Two people and dog found dead after kitchen fire

TWO people and a dog have been found dead in a house after a kitchen fire today.

Cops were sent to the home after concerns were raised for two people living in a North Ormesby terraced house.

People living nearby also smelt smoke and called fire crews to the Teesside home, where the bodies were found.

The third body hasn't been confirmed as that of a dog, but it is believed to be a pet.

It is thought a fire started in the kitchen, but had burnt out before firefighters arrived.

A Cleveland Police spokesman told Teesside Live: "Sadly the bodies of two people were discovered inside the address and officers remain on scene to begin inquiries into the circumstances surrounding their deaths and to provide a reassuring presence to the local community.

"Inquiries are at a very early stage and we would ask anyone who may have information to assist to contact Cleveland Police."

No details on those who died have been released yet, and cops are still at the property.

The North East Ambulance Service confirmed medics treated a person for smoke inhalation at the scene.

A joint fire and police investigation into the incident is underway.

The force can be contacted via the 101 number quoting event 29759.
