Newcastle office block ploughed into by Audi A6

Shocking scene as Audi A6 smashes into a Newcastle office block leaving driver injured and police using cutting gear to search for people hurt inside

An Audi A6 has ploughed straight into a three-storey brick office block in Newcastle.

The drive was given oxygen by firefighters but escaped with only minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is still unknown, according to Chronicle Live.

The driver was given oxygen at the scene by firefighters and escaped with minor injuries

Firefighters had to use cutting equipment to gain access to the office block but there were no other casualties.

The car, which costs around £40,000 smashed into the building at around 9pm on Saturday night. 

It remained lodged in the facade on Sunday morning with its hazard lights flashing after police had cordoned off the area.

Police are treating it as a road traffic collision and investigations are ongoing

A Northumbria police spokesperson said: ‘There’s not believed to be any serious injuries and investigations are ongoing into establishing the exact circumstances.

‘It’s being treated as a road traffic collision and we are in the early stages of investigations.’

The driver was taken to Royal Victoria Infirmary after being given oxygen at the scene.
