New Peppa Pig star, 9, will scare viewers in terrifying Netflix ghost story

The new voice of Peppa Pig will be scaring viewers in a Netflix ghost story.

Amelie Bea Smith, nine, stars in ghost story The Haunting of Bly Manor, a follow-up to 2018’s The Haunting of Hill House.

In Bly Manor, she plays a child called Flora.

Amelie will first appear in a Peppa show on Valentine’s Day.

Harley Bird, 18, who has been the cartoon character’s voice since she was five, is leaving the role after more than a decade.

She said: “I wish Amelie the best of luck in the role and am looking forward to starting the next chapter in my life.”

Amelie’s agent Mark Jermin said: “Amelie has been a huge fan of the show since she was little, so voicing the title role is like a dream come true.”

This comes after the Peppa Pig actress, Harley Bird, quit voicing the cartoon pig after 13 years.

Harley has appeared in the show since she was five years old, and has appeared in 185 episode.

Harley spoke about her decision, saying: "Becoming the voice of Peppa Pig at the age of five was the start of an incredible journey, and I'll never forget my time on the show.

"I wish Amelie the best of luck in the role and am looking forward to starting the next chapter in my life."

Peppa Pig is now available in more than 180 territories and it is broadcast in more than 40 languages.
