New clues emerge about Nureyev dance partner’s final resting place

The mystery of Eva Evdokimova’s last dance is partly solved.

The late world-class ballerina — who partnered with the legendary Rudolph Nureyev and Mikhail Baryshnikov — was cremated in New Jersey 10 days after she succumbed to cancer in April 2009, The Post discovered last week after canvassing metro-area crematories.

The cremation cost $155, and her ashes were put in a cardboard box and given to her husband-manager Michael Gregori, according to the Manhattan funeral director who handled the arrangements with the Rosehill Crematory in Linden, New Jersey.

At the time of Evdokimova’s death, Gregori took out a paid death notice gushing that “a celebration of the life and work” of his wife was being planned “with all the major ballet companies worldwide.” The notice said a private service would be followed by burial at the historic Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.

As The Post previously reported, the cemetery says she is not interred there, and her family — who has been long estranged from Gregori — has never been able to find the place to go to pay their respects. Eva’s half-brother, Boris Santini called the grand funeral “a big hoax.” They also had never known if she was buried or cremated.

Reached and questioned about the location of his wife’s ashes, Gregori said, “You are certainly not entitled to any personal information from me in the future. Wait for the movies, books, articles.”

Santini’s response: “Why the lies? Why the subterfuge?”
