Mystery as dad-of-two who vanished on his 41st birthday is found dead 'encased in concrete' in his own basement

A FATHER of two mysteriously disappeared on his 41st birthday, sparking a massive search only to be found in a concrete grave in his own basement five months later.

Viktor Maximov, 41, vanished on his birthday last October in Naziya, 50 miles east of St Petersburg, sparking a major search led by his sister.

His battered body was recently discovered in a concrete grave with a bag taped over his head in his basement.

The search had finally come to an end after Maximov's attacker confessed to the murder.

His neck and ribs were broken, and he had head injuries, according to forensic evidence.

Emil Khasanov, 30, confessed he killed his "friend" Maixmov after a drink-fuelled row and then dug a hole in the basement of the house and dumped the body, police said.

Khasanov mixed cement to encase the corpse in concrete and to hide the evidence of his crime, police said.

Maximov was separated from his wife Arina – with whom he had a son and daughter – when he was killed, according to reports.

The victim had been drinking with Khasanov to mark his birthday.

Khasanov was detained in October last year for another crime, and later confessed to murdering Maximov, it was claimed.

He admitted to punching and kicking Maximov to death.

Maximov's sister Svetlana Orlova had organised a search for the "loving father".

Khasanov has been charged with deliberate murder and faces up to 15 years in jail if convicted.

Sister Svetlana Orlova shared this poem after the body was found

You will not return

Will never look back

You will never be wise

And grey

You will remain in our memory

Always alive and young
