The Museum of Liverpool has been evacuated due to a "security risk".
A police cordon has been put in place, with bomb disposal units seen at the venue.
Several police cars and Merseyside Police officers have also been spotted outside.
The venue was scheduled to hold some Labour Conference talks, which are now being held outside as a result.
No confirmation of what has happened has been given by officials.
