‘Mum’s’ chilling screams as boy, 8, plunges through gap between cruise ship and dock and disappears | The Sun

AN ALARMING video shows the moment a panicked woman screams as she tries to find an eight-year-old boy who plunged into the sea.

The kid has fallen down a crack between a cruise ship and the dock and the hysterical woman can be heard shouting "where is he?"

The blood-curdling sounds are believed to be from the boy's mother but a child's screams can also be heard in the video.

The child, thought to be from northern Europe, was with his parents and sister on holiday in Salerno, Italy, when the nightmare occurred.

He was holding his father's hand shortly before he broke away and began to run along the harbour wall.

The youngster then slipped and fell into a tight gap between a cruise ship and the dock, according to local media.

She frantically sprints up and down the dock, searching for the youngster.

The volunteers worked quickly to first save the boy, as he struggled to find anything to hold onto to keep him afloat.

Security guards and passersby threw the child a rope which he was able to grab and be reeled in to safety.

The grateful woman can be seen racing over and comforting the little boy after he is pulled onto the dock.

The child's dad took longer for the volunteers to fish out of the water but was eventually hauled up the steep wall and onto dry land – with the help of a life belt.

Fortunately no one was hurt in the horror incident, but the young boy and his parents are said to be left very shaken up.
