Mum relives horrific moment a gunman raped her in front of her children
A mum has described the terrifying moment a gunman burst into her home in South Africa and attacked her and her family.
Nicky, 45, was put through a ‘living nightmare’ after the man fired through patio doors to break in, then raped her in front of her children.
Sebenzile Simane, 32, used to work at their farm and came seeking revenge.
He tied up the family so tightly their hands ‘went grey’ and stole money, threatening to kill all of them.
Simane was given two life sentences and a total of 173 years in prison for the crimes in the Eastern Cape of the country.
His victims were left so traumatised they plan to move to Australia to begin a new life on a farm there.
Nicky and husband Heine, 44, decided to tell their story, saying farmers face a continuing threat of violence.
They told the Daily Mail how Simane shot Nicky in the bottom as she tried to shield her children from his bullets.
As she lost blood, he told her 15-year-old son to rape his own mother or he would shoot his feet off.
He undressed Nicky’s 13-year-old daughter and molested her, only agreeing not to rape her if she watched him rape her mother.
Simane raped Nicky twice and only didn’t for a third time because she had lost too much blood and would die.
‘With the bullets smashing through the windows I can only describe our feeling as being hunted like wild animals,’ Nicky said.
She finally escaped after taking Simane with her to withdraw money from an ATM.
They took out the maximum amount, then waited until midnight when they could take out more money.
Nicky begged Simane to take the cards and let her drive to hospital.
As soon as he left the car she hit the accelerator and went back to the farm to check on her children, who had managed to free themselves.
‘We will not let that creature destroy us and it will take time but we will move on and lead good lives,’ Nicky said.
She and her children now live in the city, while Heine remains at the farm sleeping with a shotgun next to him until it can be sold.
