Mum having a seizure is mauled to death by her pit bull – but her family won’t have it put down – The Sun

A WOMAN died after she was mauled to death by her pit bull whilst suffering a seizure – but her family are not blaming the pet.

Police rushed to a home in Somerset, Massachusetts, on Friday evening.

According to the Boston Herald the woman, who has been identified locally as 44-year-old

Astacio, was suffering seizure when her eight-year-old pit ball Amigo began attacking her.

She was rushed to hospital but later died of her injuries.

Officers were forced to taser the dog which has been with the family since it was a puppy.

It was taken away to Swansea Animal Rescue.

Melissa's daughter Heaven told WJAR she didn't blame the dog for what happened.

She said: "I don't think he was trying to attack her. I think the dog was just trying to help my mom but he's just a dog and he didn't know any better."

Speaking to the Boston Herald Dr Terri Bright, director of behaviour services at animal protection charity MSPCA-Angell, called the incident a terrible tragedy.

She said it was "pretty rare"  for a person to be killed by their dog and hoped the incident would be "thoroughly investigated".
